How Boston is changing the Dubstep Underground Scene

How Boston is changing the Dubstep Underground Scene

Yo if you don't know me my name is Alanson and I go by HyperInvasion and i'm a Boston dubstep artist. I've been making music for 3 years now and I've been slowly growing my name around the world. I feel privileged to be starting my music journey in Boston because the longer I do this, the more I realized how passionate everyone here really is. It's a "we're in this together" mindset here.

Bass Oasis has done a great job with putting on local artists and helping them get their foot in the door with playing in front of a crowd and on CDJ's. I don't know anywhere else that does something like this. I've played a handful of shows here and it's been a blast every time! Recently RLPZ put on a remix release party for his remix comp of his Winter Never Ends EP. He invited everyone out to play at bass oasis and show off their skills and remix. We filled the place up and they even brought out lasers for this show (which might have been a first time but don't quote me).

I knew this was going to be a big deal so I made sure to capture the night and make a little vlog out of it, You can watch that down below or click here. The more we all grow here in Boston the more opportunities we give each other. The feeling of growing this project for myself is long gone, I feel like I need to support the Boston community as well at this point. I want to shine a light on it any way that I can.

What you can learn from the Boston underground scene is that you don't need these major artists pulling up and playing consistently just to get your friends together and listen to some shitty music. You can just do it yourself and that's exactly what we're doing. I am not a part of Bass Oasis but I do feel obligated to push their name with my project. Bass Oasis isn't the only group of people putting things together either. There are countless people in every genre of dubstep that help put a show together all the time and support the small guys. Almost every big dubstep show here has a Boston local opener on it. This is a great way for you to see up and comers play their heart out!

I seriously believe that Boston has one of the most passionate communities in the bass scene compared to other states. This is no competition either, we're all really fighting for the same thing, to get bass music heard.

If you want to support the Boston community drop Bass Oasis a follow on instagram and look into the people they're putting on.

Disclaimer: I was not asked to do any of this, nobody knows I'm even writing this blog. I just think it's important that people know about bass oasis and the artists trying to build their career in Boston. You always hear about Denver or Tampa, it's time to hear about Boston.
